Profile

he building was originally a stable block for the Old Tower Hotel (now a tourist information centre), and dates back to 1760, at a time when Hawick was a resting point for travellers between Edinburgh and London.

At a later date it was converted into accommodation to support the turn of the century textile industry. The textile industry is an integral part of the history of Hawick and the Scottish Borders, and its impact can still be seen today. Hawick cashmere is a world renowned brand with stores reaching as far as Toyko.
